THE FROZEN ANIMATION OF PEACE
While WE are
collectively
awakening
thawing
from individual winters
yet unable to recognize
all truth
WE are offered the
opportunity to
choose
peaceful co-existence
one-with-another
illustrated by
peaceful action
from where WE stand.
Thaw. Consider. Animate.
Awaken. Choose. Act.
In the LIGHT
Influence the melting
of hearts
of others.
Be the Peace
you wish to experience.

THE SLAP IN THE FACE OF A STARVING CHILD
“Poor countries sell their grain to the West,
while their own children starve in their arms,
and we feed it to livestock,
so we can eat a steak?
Am I the only one who sees this as a crime?
Every morsel of meat we eat
is slapping the tear-stained face of a starving child.
When I look into her eyes, should I be silent?
The earth can produce enough for everyone’s need,
but not enough for everyone’s greed.”

PRODUCT LABEL REALITIES
Humans ~
The contents of packages you consume,
so insensitively referred to as
“products,”
contain
our flesh, our blood, our organs,
Our Friends,
Our Family Members,
Our Parents,
Our Children,
once innocent, sentient, breathing, living beings,
our lives memorialized within the space of
a label.

In life,
WE think,
WE dream,
WE feel,
WE fear,
WE suffer
and in these capacities,
WE are your equals.
WE are mercilessly imprisoned, enslaved and slaughtered
by human food factories,
Slaughter Houses,
the man-made hell holes of
despair,
mercilessly and intentionally disconnected from
Life,
in numbers exceeding millions per day,
billions per week,
intentionally hidden from view of
the public of “humanity,”
who would most assuredly be sickened by
the “process.”
Compassionate Human Action Required.
Bear witness.
Compassionate Human Action Required.
Empathize.
Compassionate Human Action Required.
WE are NOT products.

I pause to make significant note,
in honor of your meaningful existence,
I ask
a BLESSING

And in reverent, heartfelt whisper
send you intentional confirmation that
“YOU

Other than a stopover at the Anchorage Airport on my family’s flight home from Japan in 1962 when I was two years old, my first trip to Alaska was in 1977. Back then I was still deceived by society’s prevailing norms and under the influence of its contradicting principles regarding fish (as they were aquatic, enigmatic and incapable of voicing their distress, surely they didn’t have the right to be left alone), so I’d taken a summer job in the salmon fishing industry at a dismal settlement on the windswept side of the breathtaking Alaska Peninsula.
Nak Nek was a gloomy ghost town most of the year and a small but hyperactive boom town during the annual fish-kill frenzy, when the tides twice-daily ushered in barge after barge overflowing with mountains of bloody fish bodies. The only thing the village had going for it, to my mind, was its proximity…

We know that living beings are suffering all across the planet today. Many of us are overwhelmed by the monumental, worldwide challenges that stand between our individual selves and those desperate to be rescued. None of us can single-handedly rescue the suffering masses of living beings, but this does not prohibit us from taking action. We don’t have to say, “There’s nothing I can do.” There are living beings in our backyards and in our communities who need our help today. Any and every compassionate action taken with intention, makes a difference . . . one-life-at-a-time.
The following adaptation from “The Star Thrower” by Loren Eiseley (1907 – 1977), illustrates this beautifully.
Many Blessings to those of you who are continually aware that every life matters.

THE STARFISH STORY
adapted from The Star Thrower
by Loren Eiseley, (1907 – 1977)
Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.
One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, so he walked faster to catch up.
As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects and throwing them into the ocean.
He came closer still and called out, “Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?”
The young man paused, looked up and replied, “Throwing starfish into the ocean.”
“I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?” asked the somewhat startled wise man.
To this the young man replied, “The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in, they’ll die.”
Upon hearing this, the wise man commented, “But, young man, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can’t possibly make a difference!”
As if he hadn’t heard, the young man bent down, picked up yet another starfish and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he turned, smiled and said, “It made a difference to that one!”
Jessica’s life here on earth has made a profound positive difference. She is powerful from the ‘nother places, where her spirit continues to make a profound difference. How wonderful that her family, friends and others are honoring her life by honoring the life of others; these innocent horses, that she loves, are not only being spared one-life-at-a-time but a MIGHTY message is being sent worldwide that influences the hearts, minds and spirits of man’kind’ that empathy and compassion are the keys to universal well being.
I love the ancient Native American belief of “The Bridge” and find it so comforting :

Blessings on Jessica’s sweet, innocent spirit. Blessings on Jessica’s family who in the face of grieving her loss, honor her. Blessings on the spirits of the horses that have passed on …also at the hands of men. Blessings on all who work to promoted respect, kindness and peace for all living beings.
Thank you for your post. I believe it touched the hearts of many today. It certainly touched my heart. Thank you for all that you do to raise public awareness of the need for protection of the innocent lives of the horse spirits. I will post a link to this on “The Animal Spirits”on Facebook today.

So with that in mind, revel in the good things that good people do in an effort to flush the evil from our lives.
