  1. The premise in made upon life and death survival used in a day and age when killing – if it ever really were – were necessary for survival, and I doubt it ever really were. Regardless, killing for food today is not necessary nor desirable for a multitude of reason I need not go into here. But their argument prevails. It’s a weak defense for their gluttonous murderous lust. One reserved for the simple unthinking and uncaring dolt. And how often is this dolt the one doing the actual act of killing? Few I suspect since they probably aren’t the ones working in slaughterhouses, nor, since less than 5% of the population hunt, are they hunters. And for all my disdain of hunters (and slaughterhouse brutes), whom is the worse, the hired killer or the weak-hearted coward having paid for murder done in their name? No, my contempt lay on the shoulders of those in the know who buy their victims in carefully marketed packages in the refrigerated aisle of their local climate-controlled grocery mart.

“If the soul is left in darkness sins will be committed. The guilty one is not he who commits the sin, but he who causes the darkness.” -Victor Hugo

Sorry for the waxing of verbose, Gerean.

    Peace, strength, courage.

    • Peter ~

I consider it a blessings whenever YOU “wax verbose.” Your comments to the posts of others are fantastic stand-alone, publishable, pieces of work.

Of course…I agree with you, it is the humans who fund the killing machine who are responsible for the suffering, the pain, the anguish, the sorrow and death. A few silver coins in exchange for the taste of flesh, creates a trail of death, hands covered in blood, a world that cannot know peace and is the ultimate betrayal.

The Victor Hugo quote you provided is chillingly appropriate.

Your reference above to “carefully marketed packages in the refrigerated aisle of their local climate-controlled grocery mart.” Reminds me of a piece I wrote some time ago. Will go try to find it and paste a link below.

To you and yours, Peace, Strength, Courage AND Blessings!

      ~ Gerean

      • Your piece here is timeless; unfortunately though.

        Blessings to you too, Gerean.

    • And also this….

We are the living graves of murdered beasts,
      Slaughtered to satisfy our appetites.
We never pause to wonder at our feasts,
If animals, like men, can possibly have rights.
We pray on Sundays that we may have light,
To guide our footsteps on the path we tread.
We’re sick of War, we do not want to fight –
The thought of it now fills our hearts with dread,
And yet – we gorge ourselves upon the dead.
Like carrion crows, we live and feed on meat,
Regardless of the suffering and pain
We cause by doing so, if thus we treat
Defenseless animals for sport or gain,
How can we hope in this world to attain
The PEACE we say we are so anxious for.
We pray for it, o’er hecatombs of slain,
To God, while outraging the moral law.
Thus cruelty begets its offspring – WAR

      ~ George Bernard Shaw (1856 – 1950)
